Background

2002 was a milestone in the education scenario of the North Eastern Region and specially for the people of Assam because for the first time, small children of Guwahati along with their parents got a firsthand experience that learning is something not confined within the four walls of the classroom with a blackboard, but is all what childhood stands for — colour, brightness, lots of play things, happiness, joy and love. This was because for the first time an exclusive play school, Axel's Kindergarten was established. Father Thellekhatt, SDB, Don Bosco School, Panbazar, inaugurated the school on 6th January 2002 in the presence of renowned personalities Mr Kishore Choudhury, Regional Officer, CBSE, North Eastern Region, and Mr Ambu Ram Gogoi, Ex. Dean of Assam Agriculture University.

In 2004, a decision was taken by the school management to upgrade the school up to class XII in a phased manner according to the CBSE curriculum. Accordingly, in 2004, Axel Public School was started with the starting of class I. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
